Engineering Graduate (Continuous Improvement) within our Technical Development Programme –

We are now seeking to appoint an ambitious Graduate to join this high profile, world class manufacturer – the position is permanent and will include a two year rotational programme across the wider technical functions within our business.  This role will suit someone keen to find a graduate level opportunity in a business that offers genuine, realistic and proven career progression by means of promotion and succession planning – this is a recognised technical development programme with a great pedigree.

Role Purpose:  To support the organisational deployment of a sustainable framework for business excellence in operations, through the implementation of best practice tools and systems of work.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation of detailed plans for the implementation of assigned/proposed projects and activities, using established project management principles (e.g. MS-Project, Network diagrams)

  • Assist with and contribute to regular progress reviews, and communicate issues and changes to the relevant parties. Process changes (e.g. Total employee involvement, Current/future state analysis)

  • Assist with the deployment of systems and procedures (e.g. Standard Operations, Audits, and Visual Controls) which ensure the sustainability and ownership of changes

  • Assist with the compilation of structured project proposals and expenditure requests (e.g. CARs), supported by the necessary levels of data analysis and justification

  • Utilise established best practice tools and principles (e.g. Lean and Six Sigma) in implementing improvements and designing systems

  • Support any established collaborative relationships with customers and suppliers

  • Provide technical support (systems design/best practice) to internal functions and personnel

  • Assist in the creation of working cultures and values aimed at promoting teamwork, problem solving, knowledge sharing, safety and customer focus

  • Support the design, improvement and utilisation of effective performance metrics and management systems


Qualifications, skills, experience required:

  • Graduate with a 2:1, 1st or Masters in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering (or similar)

  • Happy to commit to a permanent role within a two year Technical Development Programme

  • Demonstrate basic appreciation of lean implementation, change management and process analysis

  • Basic knowledge of the 5Ss, Kaizen, Visual Management, Process Mapping (Value Analysis), Cellular Manufacturing and problem solving

  • Ability to work to within a team, and a structured approach to problem solving and continual improvement

  • Ability to create professional analysis reports, proposals and training material as required

  • Good analytical, mechanical, communication skills

  • Confident in using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


About The Benefits:  Basic annual starting salary of £23-26k (negotiable in the case of 12 months + experience), 30 days leave (includes Bank & statutory holidays), pension (employee and employer contributions) and stock purchase plan.   Standard working hours with an early finish on a Friday.
